- 1 lbground beef
- 1/2 cupchopped onion
- 2 clovesgarlic, minced
- 1 tbspground cumin
- 1 tspchili powder
- 8 ozcream cheese, softened
- 2 cansbeef broth (14.5 oz each)
- 2 cansdiced tomatoes and green chiles
- 1/2 cupheavy cream
- 2 tspsalt, or to taste

- Brown the beef. Cook ground beef with onion and garlic in a large pot over medium-high heat until browned and crumbly, about 5-7 minutes. Drain the grease.
- Add the spices. Stir in cumin and chili powder, cook 2 minutes until fragrant.
- Melt in the cream cheese. Drop cream cheese into the pot in small pieces. Mash it into the beef with a spoon until no white spots remain, 3-5 minutes.
- Build the soup. Pour in beef broth, diced tomatoes with chiles, heavy cream, and salt. Stir to combine.
- Simmer. Cook until heated through, about 10 minutes. Taste and adjust salt.
- Serve. Ladle into bowls. Top with shredded cheese, sour cream, or sliced jalapenos if you want.
